About the Event

Come and learn about the progression of Blacks in America as several historical events are reviewed (i.e., the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Emancipation Proclamation, the Civil War, the first celebration of Memorial Day and into Juneteenth). Once you get a baseline understanding of these important events, the presenter will cover the amendments and Executive Orders that led to racial justice and social change as well as influential judicial decisions regarding civil rights, voting rights.  This training is by no means an exhaustive list of historical events and achievements; it is instead intended to highlight major and influential legislation, people, and events to provide a foundation upon which further education and discussions can be built.
